Saab TV Campaign Doesn’t Fly

My first car, at 16, was a used white and green Saab. It looked like a bulbous, overgrown pear on wheels and I loved it.

I’m shopping for a new car now so I’m paying attention to the car advertising I see on TV, including Saab’s new “Born From Jets” campaign. Saab was founded by 16 aircraft engineers so, apparently, the campaign is evoking the company’s aircraft heritage. But when I think of jets, I don’t think of safety. I think of fighter jet crashes and guys with names like Goose and Maverick who use their parachutes a lot.
