Just 1% of Households Use Podcasts

Despite a growing familiarity with podcasting, only a small percentage of Americans regularly listen to them, according to a new consumer poll by Forrester Research. Just 1 percent of households said they regularly listened to podcasts despite the fact found that 25 percent of online consumers expressed interest in them. However Forrester still predicts podcasting to grow with 12 million households regularly listening to podcasts by 2010. The report was prepared by Forrester analyst Charlene Li.

Do you listen to podcasts? Despite the fact that I eat and drink the internet, I have no desire to listen to them whatsoever. What is their allure?

You’re not alone. Despite the hub-bub, podcasts haven’t taken off. But they’re usesful, in the same way audio books are useful for some. I listen to podcasts at the gym and when I’m traveling.
